LENGTH
Industrial use:
- Building under 15 metres = 3 metre mast with a 4 ft (1.2m) windsock.
- Building over 30 metres = 6 metre mast with a 7 ft (2.1m) windsock.
- Tower = 6 metre mast with a 7 ft (2.1m) windsock.
- Harbour / ground based = 6 metre mast with a 4 ft (1.2m) windsock.
Aviation use:
- Helicopter pad = 8 ft (2.4m) windsock with 4m or 6m mast.
Mast height dependent on helicopter rotor blade height. Windsock to be illuminated. Light source to be mains powered complete with 24 hour battery backup. - International Runway = 12 ft (3.6m) windsock with a 6 m mast.
Windsock to be illuminated. Light source to be mains powered. - Regional runway = 7 ft (2.1m) windsock with a 6 m mast.
Windsock to be illuminated. Light source to be mains powered. - Light aircraft runway = 4 ft (1.2m) windsock with a 6 m mast.
No illumination required.
MAST
Windsock Mast come in varying lengths. From 3m to 10m depending on the appellation. The Windsock mast is made with box Galvanised steel. The mast cab be mounted on the ground / hand rail or on the roof of the building.
The mast base has a removable pin to allow for the windsock to be replaced easily. The mast base can be fixed with M16 Chemical Anchors or clamped onto a railing.
ILLUMINATED
These are a specific windsock and normally used on Airfields which planes or Helicopters are landing. They are normally internally light allowing them to be used at night for landings and take offs. The windsock can easily align its self to the wind and tell the direction day or night. The light are normally turned on or off by a day night switch. And can have a 24 hour back up where needed.
SWIVEL ARM
SWIVEL HOOP
This is normally used on air fields or on oil fields when its critical to know the windspeed and direction. The swivel hoop holds the mouth of the sock open no matter how light the conditions so you can tell the direction and speed in 1 kts of wind.
The wind strength can be easily read deepening on the angle of the sock when its flying. Form 3-25 kts. The swivel hoop has a balanced Durlon sealed bearing so it changes angle and bearing easily. The swivel hoop is not use full in most appellations and its only used in these 2 industries.
